It's the veteran Jack Von, the last real professional wrestler and you are listening to the unofficial OVW podcast. Welcome to the OVW Podcast, unofficial podcast of Ohio Valley Raceland.
TyniBrian:I am Victor. Did you forget?
Victor Anderson:Messed up. No. You you you
TyniBrian:forget your name?
Victor Anderson:No. No. It's worded weird. The unofficial podcast of Ohio Bachelorette Wrestling Overdrive. You threw me, post.
Victor Anderson:Okay. One more time. I'm sorry, guys.
TyniBrian:We're we're we're not gonna edit this. We're just gonna go. Try it again.
Victor Anderson:Welcome to the OBW podcast, the unofficial podcast of Ohio Valley Bracelin. I am Victor Anderson.
TyniBrian:And I am tiny Brian. And sooner or later, we're gonna work it out how to do this thing.
Victor Anderson:Yeah. We are covering the episode 51, season 3 of Overdrive.
TyniBrian:Yeah. Season 3, episode 5 or yeah. From Season
Victor Anderson:3 episode 51.
TyniBrian:What?
Victor Anderson:Oh. 51.
TyniBrian:Well, it's it's it's 5. That was a misprint. So we're we're this is our 3rd time doing this. We're we're doing great. Malachi just gave us a very sarcastic thumbs up.
TyniBrian:And, of course, somewhere a garage door is opening. We're not sure if you can hear that on the on the mic, but that was a great minute of of audio that we've just done there. I'm feeling good about the rest of this episode.
Victor Anderson:I'm excited.
TyniBrian:So, yes, we are gonna cover season 3 episode episode 5, which was March 19, 2004. Episode 51. Sure. Okay. So, without further ado, why don't we, get right into it?
TyniBrian:What do you say? Sure. And, of course, my my, computer is making noise. We are terrible at this.
Victor Anderson:You are out of sorts today, dude.
TyniBrian:I am I am behind the 8 ball today. There. Now it's not making noise. Much better. So we enter with, Brian and dance and Stevie j in a in a Pepto Bismol suit.
Victor Anderson:That is a that's that suits something. It is it is that is a good way of putting it.
TyniBrian:It is in fact Something. Something.
Victor Anderson:Yes.
TyniBrian:We don't really we we we don't really have much as far as, like, the the whole marrying of Al Snow's mom. None of that comes up this week.
Victor Anderson:None of it, did it?
TyniBrian:No. Not really.
Victor Anderson:I was listening for it, and I didn't hear any of
TyniBrian:it. I didn't hear any of it either. So they pretty quickly go right into our first bout here, which is Orion Yes. Division, friend of the show. Been here, you can hear his think his interview has gone up yet.
TyniBrian:Bron, have we posted his interview? Do you remember?
Victor Anderson:We have not. I don't think we have. No. We have not.
TyniBrian:Oh, so that's in the can still. So you will see that soon versus AJ Vest, who ironically wears a big coat. No. He's not wearing a vest this time. No.
TyniBrian:He didn't. I I mean, if you're gonna go with AJ Vest as your name, you should wear a vest. You should. And he wears a he he makes me feel like the nineties are back every time I see him in that coat. You should talk
Victor Anderson:to the, Texas A and m coach. He has some best to share. Buzz Williams, I think, is
TyniBrian:his name. It is March, so we're all talking about college basketball.
Victor Anderson:Of course we are.
TyniBrian:Good match between these 2. It is weird that they're color coordinated. If you notice, they're both wearing purple.
Victor Anderson:They are.
TyniBrian:It's like they're fighting to figure out who's gonna be the next joker.
Victor Anderson:This is a great match matchup, and it made me realize how big of a dude AJ Vest
TyniBrian:really is. Yeah. You think you I'd always thought of AJ as, you know, kind of the classic cruiserweight size along with a lot of these guys, but, no, he's taller than I thought
Victor Anderson:he was. You're right. I think Eric did because Eric, the good guy Cornus, and what's the other guy, BJ, AJ McKay?
TyniBrian:AJ McKay. Yeah. I wonder if he
Victor Anderson:has a best friend named Bear.
TyniBrian:I would hope so.
Victor Anderson:Oh, maybe. Well, it's BJ, not AJ.
TyniBrian:Yes.
Victor Anderson:But, over on one of my favorite wrestlers on the, on the roster. And, AJ turns out I think they said he was 66. That's a pretty tall dude. Wow.
TyniBrian:Oh, Ryan.
Victor Anderson:I
TyniBrian:mean, Vest is 6 6.
Victor Anderson:I said AJ. Oh, yes. Yes. AJ Vest.
TyniBrian:So we have an AJ we we have yeah. We have AJ Vest and, AJ McKay.
Victor Anderson:AJ McKay.
TyniBrian:There's a lot of AJs in this opening this opening segment. What did you think of of McKay and Cornish at the because that's the first time we've seen that pairing.
Victor Anderson:So I haven't distinguished their voices yet to know who's talking just because it takes me a minute because I can't hear anything. But, no. They did great. I I really they were very informative, and, they kept up with the action.
TyniBrian:Absolutely. So, yeah, they are moving towards it looks like they're gonna have end up with maybe 3 different announced teams here at OVW.
Victor Anderson:They're gonna do the AJ Guy, Cornish, some Mhmm. Obviously, Linda.
TyniBrian:Right. And And, of course, our our main team is gonna remain Brian and Stevie.
Victor Anderson:So forget the other
TyniBrian:guy, Josh. Josh. Yeah. The West and the villain himself. Yes.
TyniBrian:He just seems to float around and pair up with various people.
Victor Anderson:I like how he always does this stance. It's like oh, well, you can't really see us on the podcast, but hello, camera.
TyniBrian:Yeah. Sooner or later, this will make it to YouTube, and then you can see us do our best, our our best West 10 villains. Yes. So, yeah, this match, did end up going to Orion as one would expect. AJ is still firmly in the jobber category for the most part.
Victor Anderson:He he's one of the new guys. He's still a little green, and, Orion is a seasoned veteran at this time. And I did notice that they referenced his, dark art school, and they represent reference Malachi Black while they were talking about that, which I found.
TyniBrian:They often bring him up. They they also mentioned that he used to be Blanco Loco, which I found surprising.
Victor Anderson:I I actually Ryan has grown on me. It's better than crazy white.
TyniBrian:It definitely is. No. I really feel like Orion has done a good job of better defining his character Yes. Since he was just not Blanco Loco for a little bit or was unmasked Blanco Loco, which was what's the point? So, yeah, I really feel like Orion has done a fine job of of defining his character, you know, because there's a lot of of of guys about his size and about his build that are, you know, link kicking around the locker room.
TyniBrian:So it's good that they can kind of distinguish.
Victor Anderson:So this, to move on a little bit. So this trailer that we're watching right now that they did for the, upcoming, Haynes Cross. Yes. It's really pretty good. It shows goes to shoulder for improvement in production.
TyniBrian:Yeah. It really does. It's this old west theme. And, yeah, I'm looking forward to turning this the the set here into basically a a a Wild West bar for the coverage of this particular pay per view.
Victor Anderson:Yeehaw.
TyniBrian:Where everybody's gonna have to wear cowboy hats and spurs, which are gonna be hell on my audio. Lots jingling, but we'll figure it out. Howdy, partner. Howdy, partner. So, yeah, they, they come back, and then we go into our 2nd match, which and I was actually here for these matches.
TyniBrian:These were and these were great matches live. But we, oh, yeah. They they they always do the at this point, weirdly, they recap not Rise, but the pay per
Victor Anderson:view. They did. Yep.
TyniBrian:Which I expected them to recap Rise, but they did the previous Rise. But
Victor Anderson:They kinda skipped Rise, didn't they?
TyniBrian:They did. And so, yeah, the the whole pay per view thing, and then we get into we're kinda skipping around. Our second match of the night was a women's to a women's match between, Riley Matthews, who I always want to be from Indianapolis. Wow. Somehow those check the checkerboard pattern on her on her ring gear makes me think of, like, racing, and then I want her to be from, you know, where the brick where the Indianapolis 500 is from.
Victor Anderson:And she was fighting against one of my favorite female wrestlers on the roster, TT.
TyniBrian:Yeah. Well, 2 women we definitely need to get some time, get them in the studio and talk to them both. Riley's definitely kind of she was one of those, like, in the same way that I had trouble with with, you know, Orion and several of the other, Rush Division category folks. Riley kind of fell into a trap where I I had a hard time. She was one of the last ones for me to figure out who she specifically was.
Victor Anderson:I get her confused with, Lady Bird.
TyniBrian:Yeah. But not anymore. Not now that they're not now that Lady Bird's doing the whole America's sweetheart.
Victor Anderson:Oh, yeah. So by the way, I have to tell our previous or or co our main host on this show, Jack Minhos. Yes. I realized that they did not go away. They did disappear for about a week, and I thought, you know, I always think the worst, but, I I was wrong.
Victor Anderson:And I will admit it, mister Oates. But, you know, your favorite restaurant is Stardust. So what the hell do you know? Anyway
TyniBrian:Yes. Jackman did call Victor out for having said in the previous episode that we thought American sweethearts were maybe gone. Maybe they weren't gonna continue that bit, but they did bring it up as we saw in the last episode.
Victor Anderson:Say, I was glad to be wrong because those 2 girls put on a great performance, and they they really work well together.
TyniBrian:They really do. And and it it continues our our theory. I think all of us kinda have that we're seeing a lot of tag team shaped groupings pop up in the women's division.
Victor Anderson:Yes.
TyniBrian:Even if they're even, like, they are an actual tag team with a name and a coordinated gimmick and everything. But even where that's not the case, we're seeing a lot of that happen.
Victor Anderson:Well, the bad girls will split off in twos several different ways. So and that's coming anyway.
TyniBrian:Yeah. Bad girls red and bad girls black, basically.
Victor Anderson:They're about to split
TyniBrian:in half anyway. So, yeah, Riley Matthews surprisingly comes up with the win here. TT, at one point, attempts to get what is in fact my favorite finishing move in all of wrestling, her little hang ten thing where she she basically does half of a figure 4 leg lock and then stands on you and then grabs your arms and throws your face
Victor Anderson:into the canvas. That is cool looking.
TyniBrian:Yeah. She she yeah. She'll stand there and kinda hang with your arms for a minute while she's surfing. It's pretty great.
Victor Anderson:But she is the island girl.
TyniBrian:She is, in fact, proud of the Pacific, but, Riley Matthews manages to get the win here. Well deserved. Great match.
Victor Anderson:A heartfelt match. And, eater girl was deserved to win this match, so Riley pulled it off at the end there.
TyniBrian:Yeah. With the, off the top rope thing, very nicely done. Very nicely done indeed. So then we get into the joke of this particular episode of Overdrive.
Victor Anderson:The joke?
TyniBrian:The joke. Yes. Where we we talk about kissing up or or sucking up or or kissing butt or sucking up.
Victor Anderson:So the term that, I love you, Stevie j, but this is
TyniBrian:a little cringey. The term he used was sucking butt, which sounds like something a middle schooler in 1980 7 would have said. You suck butt.
Victor Anderson:Yeah. But, he talks about sucking butt, and, he uses it to talk to,
TyniBrian:Yeah. Which is sort like a term for kissing up to somebody. That's apparently what he was going for.
Victor Anderson:But, usually, we call those brown nosing, kissing up, but sucking butt is a little little crudgy.
TyniBrian:Little visceral. Yeah. Look. It paints a picture.
Victor Anderson:It does. But he does a he does a pretty decent interview with Cow Hero.
TyniBrian:He does. He does just fine. Yeah. Yeah. Cow, entering his Johnny Cash phase, apparently.
Victor Anderson:Well, yeah. He's, you know, we're we're going toward this whole, heel angle, I think, that we're building towards with Cal. He's dressed all in black with the slick back kind of, you know, the, moss mafia kinda hairstyle. So, it looks good on him, really.
TyniBrian:It really does.
Victor Anderson:It looks good on him, and he already has dark features with the beard and everything, so it really does kinda set him up.
TyniBrian:Yeah. It worked. No. It no. It's it's great.
TyniBrian:He's you know, he was the and, oh, even a black fanny pack.
Victor Anderson:Look at that.
TyniBrian:I had not that was that that is a black leather fanny pack. I he's such a rebel.
Victor Anderson:So the whole joke on this was was that, Stevie towed a cow that Brian Kinison was talking behind his back or something
TyniBrian:like that. Accused him of sucking butt.
Victor Anderson:Yes. Yes.
TyniBrian:Which is, yeah, which is sort of the the thing we've not we've heard more than once here is that Cal Hero not sucking butt. We've never heard that term, thank you, Stevie j. But the idea that Cal is, you know, his dad is long time friends with Al, and that's kinda how he wound up in this this good spot.
Victor Anderson:Little nepotism. Little nepotism.
TyniBrian:Yeah. That that's that is the notion that is being purported there. But Cal is certainly a hard worker. Cal has I mean, he famously spent some time working the concession stand because he couldn't do anything else for
Victor Anderson:him, you know. He did, but, but this all sets him up for everybody to turn on him, though.
TyniBrian:Yeah. But he and but let's let's face it. No matter what they're they're setting up, he is a good worker. He's earned all the success that he's had. He's definitely taken more than his fair share of abuse.
Victor Anderson:As a superior fan, I look forward to watching Tony take this bill off him.
TyniBrian:You yeah. We we we always forget how much of a superior fan you are. You got the superior shirt.
Victor Anderson:I did, and it says hush right on it. It was great.
TyniBrian:So we will, let let's get on. We're we're getting on. Let's let's get on to our 3rd and, our 3rd bout of this particular this yes. Which is, oh, yeah. This is the overdrive.
TyniBrian:Oh, yeah. Okay. I was getting confused with the match that happened in the preshow of the
Victor Anderson:So this was the Golden Lions versus versus a very, oddly matched up tag team between Big Beef and Star Rider.
TyniBrian:I I just love that Star Rider can just show up anywhere in any match at any time.
Victor Anderson:Well, he is from the beyond.
TyniBrian:He is. Yeah. And he's the star of the show. So
Victor Anderson:He is.
TyniBrian:And and it's it's interesting that they are doing such a good job with these overdrives of putting the people who people wanna see in these matches. Like last week, the main event was a Luke Curtis match.
Victor Anderson:Yes.
TyniBrian:Everybody was excited for that. Now we got the golden lines here in the, here in the main event.
Victor Anderson:Well, let's not sell Star short. I think a lot of people wanna see Star Rider too.
TyniBrian:I like Star Rider a lot.
Victor Anderson:No. They did throw him around like a rag doll in this this particular match, but he always puts on a solid performance. I really like to watch Star Rider go. He is a good worker. On been putting on some good matches and, yeah.
Victor Anderson:And they kinda throw him around too. It's like they call him big beef, then you see him next next next to cash flow there and you're like, oh, wow.
TyniBrian:Cash is That's medium beef. Yeah.
Victor Anderson:Cash is a big boy.
TyniBrian:Yeah. Oh oh, as as a large those of you who are on video will will can see. I am a, you know, Kanye Brian is ironic. I'm a large man and, cash flow towers over me and feels enormous next to me when
Victor Anderson:I when
TyniBrian:he shakes you
Victor Anderson:up and body slam you about too much issue.
TyniBrian:Pretty sure all of a lot of these guys could pick me up and and hurt me pretty sufficiently.
Victor Anderson:I would like Steve Star, Rider, Try
TyniBrian:It. I I wouldn't because they're putting me on the ground. I might kill him in the process, but I think he could probably do it. But, you know, as as is, as you might assume, the Golden Lions get the win here
Victor Anderson:Of course. Yes.
TyniBrian:Pretty pretty successfully. You know, both of these guys I wouldn't quite go so far as to say Star Rider's a jobber at this point.
Victor Anderson:He's not.
TyniBrian:No. He he he gets into it. But,
Victor Anderson:But I think the point of this match was just to build the strength of the golden lions. Yeah. You know, just to make them look more formidable.
TyniBrian:Yeah. And we're going into yeah. The the and the golden lions feature heavily in this next in the actual episode of Rise that followed this mostly on video. This is this being the before the episode where they basically chased Beaches and Cream all over the OVW universe.
Victor Anderson:Oh, this was the tune up up
TyniBrian:pack. Yeah. This was the
Victor Anderson:tune up for that. Okay. Alright.
TyniBrian:But, yeah, all in all, a good good show. Pretty straightforward. No vault match this week. That was sort of disappointing, but that's okay.
Victor Anderson:I think you should, we should talk about how, at the end of the Cal came out and realized that, Brian had been talking behind his back supposedly.
TyniBrian:Yeah. I need to know it was Ufredo moment.
Victor Anderson:Yeah. And he kinda shuns him and Brian's like, and Stevie and Kyle are like, well, we're gonna go have lunch. And they just leave Brian standing there and he's like, but but It was pretty funny. That was pretty funny.
TyniBrian:Brian's whole gimmick is is basically Rodney Dangerfield, and it makes me it makes me sad.
Victor Anderson:What was Dangerfield?
TyniBrian:I get no respect.
Victor Anderson:Oh, yeah. I get no respect.
TyniBrian:Yeah. He just sort of, everybody kinda just gives him gives him crap and and it
Victor Anderson:It it might be because no. I'm not gonna say that. That's mean. Well, you know, they all just kinda you know, they look over him until they look down.
TyniBrian:Oh. Yeah. Yes. That might have something to do with it. Yes.
TyniBrian:Victor has pointed out mister Kennison is indeed not as tall as other people.
Victor Anderson:No. He's vertically challenged, but that's okay. I'm not the tallest dude myself, so I don't I don't
TyniBrian:Well, we love Brian Kennison around here.
Victor Anderson:We do. So He is awesome.
TyniBrian:Alright. So, but that's pretty much it. You wanna take us out?
Victor Anderson:Oh, you want me to close
TyniBrian:it? Yeah.
Victor Anderson:Okay. I didn't do a very good job at opening it, but I will try it.
